Mission Statement

UMOJA Network for Young Men, Incorporated is a not for profit (501c3) organization that
focuses on developing young men holistically. Our mission is to “Live with Purpose, Learn with Morals and Lead with Integrity”. Since its inception in 2004, UMOJA has enlarged its vision.

In the beginning the focus was on over-aged, under credited transfer school boys and has now expanded to elementary, middle, and high schools. Our goal is to support our young men, ensuring that they are academically prepared, socially adept, emotionally strong and culturally connected.

Through the creation of small learning communities across several NYC/Department of Education schools, the UMOJA Network has successfully nurtured and empowered young men to get excited about learning. At the network, we remain confident that we can prepare our young men for on grade promotion, high school graduation and college/career readiness while immersing them in theme-based projects; specifically designed to stimulate fun, self-esteem, critical thinking, and an entrepreneurial spirit. The UMOJA Network manages and sustains year-round services for scholars in grades 3 to 12 at elementary/middle and high schools.
