As the chief fiscal officer for UMOJA Network for Young Inc. Ms. Hughes is the guiding light to best financial practices based on her current, lengthy and unbroken experience with small and large early learning programs. Her background includes work as a classroom teacher with the NYC Department of education and administrator of many early learning programs. Today Ms. Hughes is a long-standing executive director for Laurelton academy early learning. Ms. Hughes reminds us to invest in our youth as early as possible. Her rare leadership to teach and manage a full school for young scholars helps to set the pace for parents and children entering elementary level study. Her graduating students have historically served as a pipeline for excellence at many local DOE schools.

Ms. Hughes has been formally trained at Medgar Evers college where she received her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education
Ms. Hughes received her advanced degree from Bank Street College of Education where she received her Master of arts degree in Early Childhood Supervision in Administration
